William woke up very late on Saturday, he had forgotten he had to meet his friends for lunch. He got dressed very fast, ran to the restaurant and asked his friends:
"Hello, am I late?"
This means that he was asking if he was late for lunch with his friends. He wasn’t sure if he had made it on time because he had woken up late.
